Pie Cabinet

This Pie Cabinet has been around since I was little. My Mom found it at a yard sale and painted it white, which I eventually painted pictures of my toys on. After sitting in the storage unit for a while, my mom dug it out and gave it to me to flip!

First I had to sand off the Beanie Baby designs so that the outlines didn't show through on the new paint. After giving it 2 coats of Sico primer I applied the base coat for my Crackle finish. I've never done this before and have always wanted to give it a try! For the base colour I used Fudge Truffle in Pittsburgh Pure Performance.

Next came the Crackle finish! You can buy this at most craft stores, I only spent $2.99. I covered the entire cabinet from top to bottom. After it was good and dry I applied the top coat colour (this was a mistint so I don't have an exact colour name) with a foam brush. I was lucky to have both of these colour paints at home, gotta love the mistint table : )

For the door I decided to decoupage the two square inlays with really thin paper I bought for $1.97/sheet. For decoupage-ing, it's best to use thin paper so that it lays flat on the surface. I also painted the frame 'Oat Bran' in Sico Paint. For both the base colour and the top colour I used eggshell sheen paints. I find this is better when painting somthing to look old.

I LOVE how this turned out, and for only $8 it has been completely re-done!
